I just want to reiterate your point about showing the fans constantly, specifically the bands. I'm glad someone else noticed this because it was driving me insane. Seriously, I have never regretted having a 50" HDTV until I was constantly forced to see close-up shots of the band members acne and some fat broad stuffing her face with nachos. And it was just as bad last night for the Sugar Bowl, as they cut away to a shot of the band DURING a play down the sideline when a player broke a tackle. That game last night was just about completely unwatchable, if I hadn't had some money on it theres no way I would've kept it on. I think the only solution for the Championship is to make it a drinking game where you have to drink everytime they show the band...of course, I could also end up dead if I do that.

I thought it was a great effort by Wake. They were really only a play here-or-there away.

I watched the whole game, but I didn't notice the pro-UL slant from the announcers. I did notice a few odd comments, especially the first one you noted that Wake was lucky to have the ball on their own 42 and be tied with UL. I stared at the TV and wondered what that meant.

However, as I watched the game, I couldn't believe how many shots of the fans and bands they showed between plays. I can't recall ever seeing so many cut-aways to the stands. It was WAY too many and was definitely detracting from the experience of the game. It reminds me of Elaine's love affair with the exclamation point on Seinfeld. The director decided that there were not enough fan views during games and he was going to fix that.
